It's not just one package that we'd have to push out. It would be 3 installations plus a registry setting to trust the application protocol. This is such a visible change for a component patch, especially since we didn't ask for this "feature". The issue we were having was something entirely unrelated, which for some reason we couldn't get a patch that would just fix that only.
One thing that the component patch did right was it backed up all the IIS site files. We deleted all the new ones and reverted back to those.
