Re: Remote Control Viewer Through the Web Console Won't Install Automatically

It's not just one package that we'd have to push out.  It would be 3 installations plus a registry setting to trust the application protocol.  This is such a visible change for a component patch, especially since we didn't ask for this "feature".  The issue we were having was something entirely unrelated, which for some reason we couldn't get a patch that would just fix that only.

One thing that the component patch did right was it backed up all the IIS site files.  We deleted all the new ones and reverted back to those.

I am doing some troubleshooting now. So far I noticed the UAC was on and that stopped the installation from starting. I got a batch file to turn off the UAC. Now trying to figure out the package.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Re: Scheduler Account Audit errors lead to account lockout

MarXtar I created another LDService account last night and swapped it out with the old account. With the new account the lock outs have not "attacked" the new account and the old account is not being hit as much for account lockouts.

The one area that is still the problem is my VDIs are trying the new account and is failing and sending an event error. The physical machines are not. Now, my VMs do have a different agent so I'm going to go a verify the new account in the agent settings.

I really do appreciate this effort. Ill report more when I get more.

VDI machines. Would that mean you have configured software monitoring to write to a file share? Could that be what is causing the issue now?

Hmmm...UAC isn't generally enabled for the System account which is one of the reasons that simple software installs tend to "just work" out of the box for Landesk. I don't even know if you can enable it for system (which you probably wouldn't want to).  You might be testing with a user account or an admin account.  This can be fine too, but keep in mind that things can behave differently when ran as System.

Another thing it might be is ADS (Alternate Data Streams).  If you downloaded the package from the internet directly to an NTFS directory, you may need to unblock the installation using the Systernals application "Streams".  A quick way to check is to right click on your setup.exe and see if there is an unblock button in the bottom right hand corner.  You would need modify rights over the files and subfolders to run streams against the whole install.

I'm not familiar with this particular problem. There were improvements and fixes to status information and bundles in LDMS 9.6 SP1. I would recommend that you set up a test Core Server on 9.6 SP1 and see if you have the same problem. With LANDESK you are allowed (encouraged really) to have multiple Core Servers without any additional licensing fees, which allows you to have a test environment separate from your production environment for testing things like this and preparing for upgrades. If you continue to have problems, or can't try it out, I would recommend you open a case so that one of our engineers can help you work through any issues or perhaps identify a bug.

Hi Jeff

I'm really sorry to hear that you are still seeing this.  The culprit was able to make 15 posts before we blocked him.  It may be that emails have been delayed in reaching you from this because we haven't seen any further posts: Momentum

I will contact you directly about your unsubscribe request.

Best wishes

I have a LANDesk ticket open where I am waiting for a fix and the engineer mentioned yesterday that SP2 would be out in 2-4 weeks from now.

How is your network configured?  Are you using IP Helpers or is everything on the same subnet?  We do not use landesk for pxe but we do utilize PXE for OS builds heavily across multiple sites.  Microsoft recommends IP Helpers over DHCP Scope options.

When UEFI network booting on a HyperV Gen 2 VM you might get PXE-E99: Unexpected network error. | just another windows …

You may want to check for a bios update on the failing system as well.  Sometimes we have seen that updates to the infrastructure force updates to the guests, especially UEFI systems..

Being as there probably won't be a fix to silent the prompts since LANDesk is moving away from the legacy RC, I'll mark LANDnate's answer as the correct one.

Hi,

Trying to install the LANDesk console on a Terminal Server so a selected group of users will be able to use the console when they RDP into the TS.

When I tried logging in I got the following error message.

Login Error

Console Initialization Error: Invalid database

version. Upgrade this core before attempting to

connect to it using this console.

Required database version = 9.60.0.0 The

database for this core is version 9.60.1.0..

I did run SP1. I can log into the console on another computer just fine.
